AFRIKIDS JOINS A NEW COMMUNITY-LED LEARNING COLLABORATIVE

What does it look like when communities are in the driving seat of change?

We’re proud to share that AfriKids has joined the Ghana Community-Led Development Collaborative, launched by mc2h Foundation.

The power of community has always been central to how we work. We see every day that when communities are supported to have the means and motive to lead change, they rise up and create education solutions that are more relevant to children’s lives, and more likely to last.

This collaborative brings together local organisations and global practitioners who are committed to approaches where communities truly shape and sustain change.

Alongside partners including EduSpots and School for Life Ghana (SfL), and community-driven change leaders including Global Fund for Children and Tostan, our two-year learning journey will be focused on what meaningful, community-led change in education really looks like.

Through this collaboration, AfriKids is keen to deepen our practice, learn from peers, and contribute insights from our work with communities in northern Ghana. Together, we plan to:

  • Promote community-driven approaches that place communities at the centre of education solutions.
  • Strengthen the capacity of local actors to design, strengthen, lead, advocate for, and sustain initiatives that empower communities to actively address and support children’s educational needs.
  • Foster cross-learning among local organisations to deepen understanding and implementation of effective community-driven strategies.
  • Advocate for policy and practice change that recognizes and invests in communities as central to sustaining equitable and quality education for all.
  • Document, analyse, and share lessons learned from community-led initiatives to inspire replication, adaptation, and scaling of successful approaches elsewhere.

We’re proud to be part of this growing learning community and look forward to sharing reflections and lessons as the collaboration develops.
