Knowledge sharing

Last Thursday, AfriKids took part in the 7th Annual Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Child Protection, which we organised alongside Participatory Development Associates (PDA Ghana) and the Department of Children. The workshop was broadcast live on A1 Radio, and focused this year on the important topic of early and forced marriage.

We were proud to have 4 members of our team; Linda (pictured above), Raymond, Matthew, and Valeria, taking part to raise awareness, and discuss their experiences and AfriKids’ work on such important issues.

We asked Raymond why having this event for different stakeholders to come together and have shared discussions was so important:

“In northern Ghana, early and forced marriage prevalence is way higher than the average national prevalence. It’s for this reason that Traditional leaders, state actors, development partners and children gathered in the North East town of Walewale for the regional level child protection workshop on early and forced marriage. The workshop seeks to tackle early and forced marriage head-on by diving deep, discussing solutions, and leveraging data for evidence-based advocacy in Ghana. It’s the largest gathering of diverse people united to make a real impact on the child protection landscape in Ghana!”

Word is getting out about how we can all have a real impact for children in northern Ghana. Together, we will bring about the day when all children are safe, in school and learning!
