Training female volunteer agricultural extension agents

Agriculture Extension delivery is an important service that helps disseminate information and new technologies in farming to rural communities to maximise agricultural productivity amidst climate change and improve food security. The service is delivered through trained Extension Agents by the Department of Agriculture and private sector, but the number of AEAs per farmer ratio in Ghana is well below what’s needed, at just 1:3,250 against a UN standard of 1:500. Therefore, AfriKids works with thethe Department of Agriculture (DoA) to train women in the women’s groups supported by our programmes to become AEAs and help fill the gap while serving their communities.
